Managing your time in real estate can be one of the biggest challenges agents face. While it’s true that agents are free to structure their day as they wish, in reality most find that they must carefully manage their schedule to avoid being to spread too far, or overstretching themselves. Here are four strategies real estate professionals use to get ahead:

  1. Punch the Clock
  • One of the most challenging aspects of real estate is that there is not a set schedule to keep. This can be both good and bad for your business, but if you want to succeed, it is imperative that you find a way to work as much around your business as possible. For new agents, this means developing a solid daily schedule that identifies specific tasks that need to be completed on a daily basis or weekly basis. If you lack consistent discipline in this area then you will miss out on opportunities for success because you won’t have an organized plan for keeping your work booked. The best way to learn if the strategies listed in this article will work for you is to give them a try and see what happens.

2. Break Your Goals Down to Size

  • Break your goals down to size. You can do it by creating a goal sheet of big things you would like to accomplish, then break that down to specific activities that you need to do to make the goal a reality. After all, if our big goal is five contracts in the next six weeks, perhaps I identify two areas of focus like social media and door knocking as the channels to attract new clients. For social media, perhaps we commit to posting on three different platforms twice a day, five days a week. For door knocking, we commit to identifying three local neighborhoods and canvassing over a three-week period.

3. Leverage is Key

  • Create in-depth customer relationship management (CRM) tools to improve your chances of connecting with high-value clients. If you’re using well-established software platforms, then data security will not be a problem for you. However, if you want to build your own CRM tool and data privacy is important to you, then it’s important that you understand how to secure your data from external threats.

4. Develop a work hard, play hard mentality

  • When you’re juggling a high-performing job and strong family obligations, it can be easy to lose sight of the things that matter most. At times like these, we need to re-prioritize and create a work hard/play hard mentality for ourselves.
